Four ways we close the gap

From a single fixed-scope diagnostic to embedded operating leadership, configured software, and floor-level training across the region.

01 / Proof before retainer

Operational Diagnostic

Fixed scope, fixed timeline

A focused, fixed-scope engagement to identify and quantify the specific operational gap that's costing you the most, before you commit to an ongoing retainer. This is the right starting point when the value of fractional leadership hasn't been proven yet inside your organization.

  • Assessment. Structured on-site and data-driven review of the operating gap in question.
  • Root cause. Findings built on Six Sigma and Kepner-Tregoe problem-solving methodology, not generic benchmarking.
  • Action plan. A prioritized plan your team can execute with or without further engagement.

Scoped and priced per engagement. Contact for details.

02 / Ongoing partnership

Fractional COO Retainer

Embedded fractional leadership
Three-month initial engagement

Embedded operating leadership on a fractional basis: daily management systems, maintenance reliability, and throughput discipline, without the cost of a full-time executive hire. Built for independent owners and for PE-backed operators managing integration and performance pressure.

  • Operating cadence. Direct, hands-on rhythm with your leadership team, not a quarterly check-in.
  • Configured tools. Digital leave-behinds your team can run without us once the engagement ends.
  • PE fluency. Built around the reporting and performance pressure of a PE-owned portfolio company.

Monthly retainer with a three-month initial engagement, or a defined-scope project. Contact for details.

03 / Configured leave-behind

Digital Asset Tools

Leave-behind tools
In development and testing

Purpose-built operational software, configured to your plant and left with your team as a leave-behind, not a generic SaaS subscription. The tools are being built and tested now; each one’s status is listed below.

  • DailyOps Core (in testing). Multi-tier daily operations reporting with KPI dashboards, escalation flagging, and missing-submission alerts.
  • Floor Supervisor Day Planner (in development). A structured daily operating rhythm addressing the behavioral gap no off-the-shelf software solves.
  • Supply Chain Monitoring Agent (in development). Fully customizable to your industry and specifications, tracking supplier risk, lead times, and disruption signals specific to your operation.
  • AI Implementation Plan (in development). A structured, plant-specific roadmap for where automation and AI actually pay back, and where they do not.

Offered with engagements as each tool completes testing. Contact for current status.

04 / Workforce readiness

Workforce Readiness Training

Beat the Boss piloted Oct 2026
Seminars in planning

Practical programs for two audiences: students deciding whether manufacturing is a career for them, and the supervisors and frontline leads already running the floor. Hands-on work, not generic leadership theory.

  • Beat the Boss (pilot). A timed, hands-on manufacturing challenge built for schools and career events. Students build a wire harness from a work instruction, test it on a pass/fail fixture, and try to beat Todd’s posted time. Only a passing part gets a time: safe, correct, fast, in that order. Career-path materials show where one entry-level production job can lead. Piloted at Career Con on the SUNY Fulton-Montgomery campus, October 2026.
  • Corporate sessions (in planning). On-site sessions for supervisors and operations leads, built around your specific operating environment and current gaps.
  • Open seminars (in planning). Cross-company sessions planned across the Utica-to-Saratoga corridor.
The IOG Beat the Boss booth at Career Con: the Beat the Boss banner, a poster of manufacturing career paths, the wire harness test fixture and a leaderboard showing Todd’s posted time.

Beyond manufacturing

Process Improvement for Service Businesses

Same methods, different floor

The methods that fix a production line work anywhere work moves through a process. IOG takes on process improvement and operational troubleshooting for service businesses outside manufacturing: distribution and logistics, field and repair service, multi-site service operations, and the back-office processes behind them.

  • Operational troubleshooting. The recurring problem nobody has been able to fix: missed commitments, rework, backlogs, errors that keep coming back. Kepner-Tregoe and Six Sigma root-cause methods find the cause, not just the symptom.
  • Process improvement. Mapping how work actually flows, removing the steps and handoffs that add delay or errors, and putting simple daily measures in place so the fix holds.
  • Same starting point. A fixed-scope Operational Diagnostic on one problem, ending in a prioritized action plan your team can run with or without further engagement.
