About

Todd Kayhart, Founder

Two decades on the plant floor and in the executive suite, not a generalist consulting background.

Our Mission

To put COO-caliber operations leadership within reach of the small and mid-size manufacturers that keep upstate New York working.

Many small and midsize manufacturers have capable people on the floor but lack the operations leadership bandwidth they cannot justify hiring full time. Interstitial Operations Group exists to close that gap, plant by plant, so the region’s industrial base keeps its footing.

Todd Kayhart founded Interstitial Operations Group in 2026, after more than two decades running manufacturing operations at the plant and executive level. His career includes GE, Benjamin Moore, Karnak Corporation, PALIoT Solutions and Tokyo Electron, spanning manufacturing operations, automation, scale-up, reliability and process improvement. He works directly with ownership and leadership teams to close the gap between strategic intent and what actually happens on the floor. That gap is the interstitial space between the plan and the execution.

His approach is built on structured, repeatable problem-solving rather than generic best practices: root-cause diagnostics, daily operating disciplines, and the judgment that comes from having run the floor himself, not just advised from the outside.
